Hello, I'm Lucia

LUCÍA CARUSO is an Argentinean composer and pianist based in New York, whose numerous awards include Second Prize in composition at the World Piano Teachers Association (WPTA) International Piano and Composition Competition in 2021 and 2023, Best Emerging Documentary at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, 2017 and 2024 Portuguese International Music Awards, and four ASCAP Plus Awards. Lucía was elected by unanimity of the jury to become a member of the Argentine Association of Composers in 2020. She has an international career with commissions for orchestra, dance, and film. Lucía composed for the TV and virtual reality series “4 Feet High” for Arte France. She also stars in and composed the score of “Forte”, a feature documentary about her life and two other groundbreaking women in music. At Abbey Road Studios, she recently recorded her piano concerto with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. As composer and artist-in-residence with Orchestra of the Swan from 2016 to 2019, she premiered one of her Shakespeare Songs for choir and orchestra at the Shakespeare 400 Memorial in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. She recorded a complete Shakespeare song cycle in 2019 with the choir and Orchestra of the Swan, conducted by Bruce O’Neil, music director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Lucía has performed in the most important concert halls in the world including Weill Hall in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center in the U.S; Kew Royal Palace in the U.K, the Louvre Museum and the Palace of Versailles in France, among others. Lucía trademarked the term “Transclassical Music”, and co-founded the Manhattan Camerata (manhattancamerata.com) as well as Light & Sound Film Scoring (lightandsoundscoring.com).
